BLUF: With a massive dose of caffeine MYO will sustain your energy even through the longest workout. But somehow I never crashed and even had a sustained “runner’s high” for nearly an hour after training.
I’ll be honest. I did not expect much from MYO. I just assumed it was a gimmick product from a well established protein company trying to sell more product to dedicated customers. I wasn’t just wrong, I was WAY wrong.
MYO pre-workout specs out with 400mg caffein, 3.2g beta-alanine, 2g creatine monohydrate, 50 calories, and 10 carbs. It does not appear to contain L-Citrulline Malate according to the nutrition label. It also uniquely contains Beet Root.
The product mixed fairly well with cold, filtered water in my Vortex Mixer cup, leaving only a slight powdery residue. The water turned a dark pink color like a homemade Koolaid drink. It was easy on the palate and easy on the stomach, but less than refreshing. It just didn’t seem to have much flavor, and the flavor it did have was a bit funky.
But then something surprising happened. Granted, it took a little while to kick in, but I got a massive energy rush and a wonderful pump. I stayed focused throughout my home and fifteen minute workout, and then felt like I could go even longer. After my workout, and even after a cold shower, I still had a calming “runner’s high” feeling.
Whatever Myoplex put in this stuff, I like it. My workout was intense with little fatigue, exactly what I want from a pre-workout. Again, I’m not a fan of the flavor, but I can look past that for a product that really works.
