Gold Standard Pre-Workout by Optimum Nutrition (Fruit Punch) – Review

BLUF: I like it a lot. It tastes good, mixes well, and packs a nice punch. I feel pumped and ready for a workout within 10 to 15 minutes after taking it. Even better, it keeps me going through an entire hour long workout. Down side is there is just a bit of a crash on the other end.

Gold Standard pre-workout specs out with 175mg caffein, 1.5g beta-alanine, 3g creatine monohydrate, 1.5g L-citrulline malate, 5 calories, and 1 carb.

I mixed Gold Standard with cold, filtered water using my Vortex Portable Mixer cup. The product disappears almost instantly, leaving only a smooth red liquid. The powder itself is quite fine and consistent with what you see in other products. Volume wise, it seems to e a rather small portion, which makes me question how they get all the ingredients into such a small dose. But, again, it is consistent with other products.

The taste is very flavorful yet not too sweet. The entire experience was smooth and consistent with no surprising aftertaste. I prefer to have an unflavored product, but if I had to pick a flavor for my hand-made pre-workout I imagine it would taste something like Gold Standard.

As usual, I took the pre-workout on an empty stomach. I find this gives the fastest results and seems to enhance the “tingly” feeling which I really like. In just 10 minutes I was ready to rock. The mix kept me running and feeling good throughout the workout. I was focused, pumped, excited, and working hard with little fatigue.

I’ve been through two containers of Gold Standard Pre-Workout. I guess that means I like it enough to keep using it. This one makes the recommended list.
