BLUF: Delicious flavor, smooth consistency, yet still low in sugar. Highly recommended.
Most protein powders taste the same, chalky and not very appetizing. BSN’s Syntha-6 Edge is slightly better than most. It has fewer calories, carbs, and fat than their previous generation protein product, yet still manages to taste like a real milkshake.
Here is what the company has to say:
“SYNTHA-6 EDGE® is a synthesis of premium proteins designed to give your muscles the protein they need to support recovery without the excess carbs and fat you may not want. This lean, protein packed shake delivers a milkshake-like experience that will have you convinced it’s your cheat day. Give your recovery the performance edge. Fuel your muscles and reward your taste buds with SYNTHA-6 EDGE®.”
With just 150 calories, Syntha-6 Edge specs out with 24 grams of protein from five different sources. It also has 2 grams of sugar and 3.5 grams of fat per serving.
After mixing it smells like a bland whey protein, but it looks nice and thick. One of the things I found odd was the scoop-to-water ratio. One serving of protein powder is only supposed to be mixed with 4 to 5 oz. of water. It mixes really well, but this comes out to be a very small serving.
However, even the small serving was satisfying in the stomach. I felt full, but not uncomfortably stuffed, after just one serving. It will easily crush a late-night sugar or chocolate craving.
Overall, I liked it. It was smooth a delicious with no powdery taste or left-over chunks to be found. The flavor was nice and chocolaty with just a hint of vanilla, adding to the authentic milkshake flavor. If my eyes were closed I would be convinced I was drinking a real milkshake.
I wouldn’t hesitate to buy Syntha-6 Edge if I were looking for an indulgent, reliable protein supplement.
